Top street style looks from the Paris Couture shows

Street style Paris couture shows

One of the best parts of the Paris couture shows or any fashion week for that matter is the street style going on outside the tents. From celebrities, editors, buyers and fashion bloggers, the troves of women in particular who attend these shows are definitely there to see and be seen.

Some of the outfits chosen can be a little over the top, but the looks below represent the top twenty street style looks that are definitely inspirational yet wearable. Although we enjoy from time to time seeing the outrageous show stopper looks, we usually are most inspired by the women who just seem to have a certain je ne sais quoi, without wearing something too crazy.

From Olivia Palermo’s chic ensemble to Nicole Warne’s sexy yet chic look, the women did not disappoint the fashion photographers this season. We suppose it doesn’t hurt that it’s the spring shows and it’s obviously much easier to dress appropriately as opposed to being bundled up in a coat.

TOP 5 SUMMER TRENDS FROM VOGUE AROUND THE WORLD

TRENDS | July 9, 2025 | By

Vogue France - Pop Art

Everyone knows that Vogue is basically the “fashion bible”. Published in over 18 countries, the globally read magazine also has their own e-commerce sites as well. Now with the internet being such a resource for discovering trends all around the world, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at the different trends from a global standpoint. A Vogue global standpoint.

Considering there are 18 different countries to look at, we decided to just focus (for this particular post) on the top 3 countries with cities that are rated as “fashion capitals”. Vogue US - for New York, Vogue Paris - Paris, and Vogue Italia - Milan. These three countries have all been ranked at one time or another the Fashion Capital of the World.

The way we looked at Summer 2015 trends from a Global Garbs perspective was to narrow the trends down to the top 5 different from country to country. There were some obvious trends that Vogue highlighted in each country such as Denim (boring), or Lace (been there done that). So we decided to focus on the top 5 from each country that we felt were the most unique from each country.

Both Italy and Paris have always seemed to be a step ahead of the US in terms of actually adopting trends. Although Vogue USA may be showing some of the same trends as the European editions, the reality is that there are only a few parts of the country specifically in the USA that will adopt these trends for the current season. The trickle down effect will eventually happen, but in the early stages of a trend it could take a while until the average person is seen walking down the street…

Starting with Vogue USA…

The top 5 (different) trends for the season are Gingham, Fringe, New Festival, Flower Power, and Evening Midriff. We have obviously seen all of these trends before, but each season there is always a bit of a modern twist. For example, flower power is a combination of the floral trend combined with a seventies appeal. The 70’s have been seen all over the runway, but this summer trend focuses down to a specific seventies trend, which are large flowers or “flower power”.

#2 FRINGE

# 3 NEW FESTIVAL

# 4 FLOWER POWER

#5 EVENING MIDRIFF

Onto Vogue Italia…

Italians have always been known to have an amazing sense of style. Long before the internet, you could order an Italian Vogue via subscription but it would cost about $10 an issue to be delivered to the US. Here are the top 5 (different) trends from Italian Vogue: 70’s style, Marsala, Pockets, Light Blue, and White. It’s interesting that out of the top trends, Emmanuelle Alt chose 3 different colors as an actual trend.

And finally..Vogue Paris

Paris, France in our eyes will always remain the fashion capital of the world. Being that they are the originator of haute couture, there really is no competing with the historical impact that France has had on the world of fashion. Many designers all around the world still find inspiration from the Paris couture shows, so it would make sense that the rest of the world would find inspiration from a french magazine. Here are the top 5 trends from the original fashion capital of the world.

EAST COAST VS WEST COAST STYLE - NYC vs LA

tsangtastic_7115_1_9002

When it comes to the East Coast vs West Coast fashion, there’s always been this unsaid stigma of who has a better sense of style. Although both the east coast and west coast are so large, we are going to focus on two cities that are often compared to each other…New York City vs Los Angeles.

New York City has always been known as the fashion capital of the world, but Los Angeles has been on the radar for quite some time. The city was even ranked no 4 according to the Language Monitor, who puts out a ranking each year of the top fashion capitals of the world. Yes, the city of Angels has slowly but surely made a name for itself in the fashion industry. From top fashion bloggers such as Aimee Song from Song of Style or Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere , Los Angeles’ sense of style has always been casual yet chic, and of course never with the necessity of a heavy coat.

We did a piece a few months ago on the differences in East Coast vs West Coast spring style, because obviously weather makes a huge impact of what styles are trending from coast to coast. Now that it’s officially summer time, we thought we’d take another look at what’s going on in LA vs NY.

LOS ANGELES
Jenny Tsang from Tsangtastic who is prominently featured on Lookbook as one of the top bloggers on their leader board is a Los Angeles based fashion blogger with a large following both on lookbook and instagram. With almost 50k followers she’s slowly climbing the ranks as one of the top fashion bloggers from the west coast. Her style is simple yet sophisticated. Her taste is modern with a neutral color palate, while also throwing in a pop of cobalt blue or yellow here and there. She seems to gravitate more towards pastels and whites, especially based on her overall instagram gallery.

She’s definitely got the whole “less is more” thing going for her. All of her outfits look effortlessly chic yet comfortable. She has a relate-able style that will never make someone wonder “what was she thinking?”.

NEW YORK, NY
Rachel Lynch from I Hate Blonde‘s style is basically on the complete opposite end of the style spectrum compared to Tsangtastic. The main visual difference is that Rachel features more editorial type photos which are styled and shot in a much more conceptualized way as opposed to Tsang’s street style images. Lynch’s style is on the edgier side, with her combat platforms and lace, or pleated skirts with moto jackets. The two blogger’s different styles illustrate the statement “to each his own”.

One cannot say there is a clear winner in terms of style, which would always be a considered completely objective. The overall take away from observing the top two fashion bloggers on the Lookbook platform is that there could easily be someone located in NYC that dresses similar to Jenny Tsang, and there are many women who would relate more towards Rachel Lynch’s style as well.

These two style blogger’s comparison can be seen as the somewhat stereotypical view of what New Yorkers wear vs Angelenos. The vast majority of people associate NYC as being edgier, while Los Angeles is often viewed upon as more relaxed and casual. Either way, these two both know who they are as personal style mavens.

In today’s world of style there are no boundaries. Everyone is connected, emulated and admired.

4th of July Style and beyond

TRENDS | July 3, 2025 | By

styledumonde

In honor of the 4th of July celebration here in the USA, we’ve compiled a few red, white, and blue looks from all across the country. It’s interesting to see the differences just within the United States of trends worn from state to state.

Red, white and blue for the 4th of July and beyond can make a statement regardless of whether you’re trying to be patriotic. The contrast between the blue and red hues work really well together, and are always a classic American look. One tends to think of Ralph Lauren, who is the epitome of All-American fashion. The looks below cover a range of classic and trendy outfits, but the overall theme is that these women have style and aren’t afraid to wear color, whether it be head-to-toe or a pop of color in their accessories.

Whether you’re headed to a BBQ or just want some American style inspiration, check out some of our favorite looks below.

GIVENCHY IS COMING TO NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

ARTICLES | June 30, 2025 | By

Givenchy recently announced they will be showing their Spring 2016 collection in New York City rather than Paris. This takes place shortly after Valentino who had also decided to have their couture show in Rome instead of Paris.

Both brands chose different locations in order to celebrate and promote stores openings in each of the two cities. Valentino recently opening a mega-store in Italy, while Givenchy plans on opening a flagship store in Manhattan.

As fashion becomes more and more global, designers are realizing the importance of using Fashion Week as a marketing platform to not only show their collection but to also promote other events going on with their brand.

One issue however, that seems to be somewhat controversial is that the show takes place on September 11th. According to WWD, Ricardo Tisci pronounced “It’s a very delicate day for America, and so the show is going to be a celebration of family and love. It gives me so much energy, and I’m very inspired by the culture. I feel free when I’m there.”

“Fashion may be about the future, but it has a responsibility to the past”

Vanessa Friedman from the NY Times made an admirable statement that “Fashion may be about the future, but it has a responsibility to the past. As the New York show is a one-off, with all the extra attention that generates, Givenchy will have a singular opportunity to reconcile the two. Here’s hoping the house embraces it.”

Although the event does fall on such a somber occasion, it’s inspiring to see that luxury designers are beginning to embrace the idea of showing in a country other than their own. It then poses the question of whether New York City is becoming more of a fashion capital for some of the haute couture fashion houses. The big apple did reclaim it’s title as the official fashion capital as per the Global Language Monitor in 2014, inching out Paris by .05%!

This blogger turned designer turned model is the first to ever generate sales ($8 million last year) from a global business. With over 300 retailer stores globally carrying her brand such as Lord & Taylor in the US, Selfridges in London, and Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong, this girl is killing it not only with her collection but her overall brand. KNOTTED TREND: 5 OF THE BEST INSTRAGRAMS

TRENDS | June 15, 2025 | By

The knotted trend has been seen lately worn in a modern way. Remember back in the day when this trend was worn only as a sleeveless blouse in which the ties were actually designed to be tied? Those days are over. Now, bloggers have been seen styling their blouse by unbuttoning the last few buttons and creating your own tie, or the design actually gives the illusion that you have an extra garment wrapped around your waist. There are even two piece matching ensembles that have been popping up just like Jasmine Howell’s look below from Friend in Fashion.

With the whole crop top trend going on right now, its no surprise that tying up your blouse to create the cropped effect has been re-emerging. The main thing to remember with this particular look is to keep it simple and natural.

Here are five inspiring looks around the world from style bloggers’ Instagram posts showing us that this trend can be chic and modern as opposed to cheesy and un-flattering.
