How to Wear All Black in the Summer

Wearing all black in the summer seems like it would be counter-intuitive, but the truth is, you can definitely pull off wearing your favorite color year round.

In our research lately with bloggers around the world, wearing all black appears to be the easiest way to look instantly more chic (and slim).

The key to wearing all black in the summer is the weight of the fabric. We all know from a scientific point of view that black absorbs heat and light more than lighter colors, but we say as long as you're not wandering the city in the scorching sun, wearing all black should be a must for the summer.

Check out the eight different ways we found ranging from a skirt and crop top to a long tunic and hidden shorts underneath.

Each country and each blogger styles their all-black ensemble in a way that is effortlessly their own style and personality.

This is the main rule above all. Be yourself and if you like wearing all black (instead of all white or any other color for that matter) it's your prerogative and style, so just go for it.

Monica S from Warsaw, Poland

We love Monica's effortlessly way of looking extremely chic and cool might we add. This look can definitely be worn for a scorching summer day from day to night.

Nina from Berlin, Germany

Nina adds a bit of extra interest to her midi black dress with a military style vest. Although this entire outfit isn't all black in it's entirety, the all black dress is the easiest piece to pull off in the summer heat.

Aika from Japan but living in Seattle

Aika in Japan pulls of the most boho-chic look that we've seen in our all black off-the-shoulder crop top, swingy skirt, and platform sandals. She completes the outfit with a wide-brim black straw hat and course black choker.

Miaoda from Beijing, China

Miaoda from China is wearing the perfect A-line trapeze slip dress that is a complete must-have.  We love how she's styled with a beret and of course her chunky wrap sandals.

Jillian L from Canada

Jillian defines the ultimate cool girl look wearing all black. Her stapless top paired with some loose trousers make for such an amazing silhouette that is both sexy and cool. Paired with her white sneakers and she's got the look styled to a perfect 10. Our favorite look of the bunch.

Kim from Philadelphia, PA - USA

Kim shows off some skin with this feminine boho-chic ensemble. We love the detailing of her peek-a-boo jumpsuit. It's the perfect playsuit to go from day to night just by changing up her accessories.

Kathryn from Chicago, IL, USA

Kathryn in Chicago shows us how to pull off wearing all black from a cocktail or going out outfit. This dress or potentially even two piece is everything with it's tassled skirt and low cut top. The ultimate sexy yet chic look of the group.

Eve from Black Forest, Germany

Last but not least we have Eve from Germany showing us that you can pair a long graphic tunic with a pair of shorts to create an ultra cool and unique look wearing all black. We love her sporty and chunky sandals paired with the tunic-like dress for another 'cool girl' type of look.

The Top Summer Looks to Copy NOW!

When the temperature rises and you don't want to wear clothes it's hard to come up with cute outfits that are not only stylish but aren't going to make you roast to death.  We definitely find ourselves stuck in various types of sundresses which just makes us feel super beachy and boring.

We decided to put together the best summer looks seen around the world that you can copy now. We've even added a few pieces from each trend for you to peruse.

From bodysuits to wrap skirts, there's plenty to choose from and something for everyone no matter you shape, size or age range.

Our favorite must haves for the summer include off-the-shoulder tops, culottes and the midi skirt.

The best thing about the majority of these pieces is that they can easily transition into other seasons depending on what you pair with and how you style.

Scroll on down to view the top eight trends and how you can wear and COPY.

OVERALLS

Not to be confused as the major trend from the 90's (well technically it sort of is), but wearing overalls has been back in season for a few years now, and we don't see this trend dying anytime soon. Paired with a crop top or tank, you'll instantly step up your style game a notch with this simple yet cute and fun combo.

BODY SUITS

Bodysuits are another trend that is straight from the 90's, but what a great trend it is. Not only do these tops make you look super skinny but they're just they are super chic and easy to wear. Play around with different styles and necklines to see which one suits your body type best.

OFF-THE-SHOULDER

We've definitely made it clear that the off-the-shoulder top is our favorite trend of the season and can literally be seen worn on every blogger possible. The great thing about this trend is that it's super versatile in so many silhouettes, fabrics, sleeve length, you name it. Plus it's super sexy in a classy way. You can't go wrong.

LOOSE SHORT DRESSES

We love that these loose almost sort of baby-doll meets caftan dresses are making a comeback as well. Gone are the days of the skin tight summer dress or pleated A-line. These flowy yet not boxy dresses have been seen around the world in a big way.

JUMPSUITS

A jumpsuit is the best way to throw on a one-piece that instantly looks chic. Think of it as your go-to outfit rather than throwing on your typical sundress. Whether you opt for a loose fitting casual look, or a more tailored piece, this piece is both comfortable and classic.

CULOTTES

Our favorite bottoms that can be worn year round are the culottes. These started making their way to the mainstream about two years ago and since then we've seen in them in every fabric imaginable. Lately, it's been more about the denim culotte, or printed version, but whatever your style is, this style is here to stay (for now we hope!)

WRAP SKIRT

The wrap skirt is sort of a play on the wrap dress. Instead of a one-piece, the wrap skirt is a piece that depending on the cut, can actually be quite sexy and a cool piece to wear to keep you cool and looking cool. How many times can we say cool? Cool.

MIDI SKIRT

The midi skirt is the perfect choice when you're looking for something comfortable but are sick of wearing a dress. You instantly look more "stylized" because you can style your midi so many different ways. Whether you decide to pair with a cute graphic tee, a

8 Ways to Wear White This Summer

We love the idea of wearing all white in the summer.

The color white is not only sophisticated and chic, but it also doesn't absorb the heat so it's actually both scientifically more functional AND fashionable to wear all white. 😀

Sometimes we forget that wearing all white is a fashion statement on it's own, and by just wearing head-to-toe of one color, specifically white, you can instantly appear more stylish. What a simple idea!

Below we've put together our list of the Top 8 ways we've seen to wear all white no matter what country you live in.

#1 Two-Piece Jumper Look - as seen in Minneapolis, MN USA

Maria from Minnesota, shows off a two-piece eyelet playsuit that is both feminine and subtly sexy at the same time. We love the laced up sandals and printed clutch to add a bit of interest and color to the outfit.

#2 Oversized Shirt Dress - as seen in Manchester, United Kingdom

Anghara from the UK looks super casual yet cool in her oversized shirt dress with black leather slip on loafers. We love the length of the shirt dress, not to mention how oversized the dress is. The perfect silhouette for a fashion girl. Any tighter would be too preppy.

Anghara Jones from Manchester, United Kingdom style-trunk

#3 Pleated skort

Considering pretty much every trend comes back some time or another, is it time for the skort to come back to the mainstream? Oksana from Estonia certainly thinks so. We do too! However, this outfit isn't for the shy.  Oksana absolutely kills this look with her perfect figure and cool off the shoulder sleeve matching top.

#4 All White Classic - as seen in Brooklyn, NY USA

When in doubt just wear head to toe white pants and a classic tee tucked in. Helena from Brooklyn Blonde does this so effortlessly and adds a lightweight trench which adds an extra element of style.

#5 Dress it up - as seen in Budapest, Hungary

Vivienn shows off a super elegant look that is almost bridal. We absolutely love the long sleeve top paired with her flowing skirt. We're not quite sure where you would wear this amazing ensemble, but it's definitely an inspirational look that is bound to wow if and when you can attend a fab event.

#6 A Midi Dress - as seen in Chicago, IL USA

The lovely Jennifer Lake from Style Charade pulls off this geometric midi dress with such ease and grace. This dress is perfection in white, and almost looks like it could be lace from afar.
The midi length has been seen everywhere, and in all white it's perfection.

#7 Off-the-Shoulder- and Muted tones - as seen in Poland

Olga is wearing one of the biggest trends of the season - the off-the-shoulder blouse in white and paired with some light denim. We love the idea of wearing white with a pastel or light baby blue denim. So whether you pair with something more basic like light denim, think of the color white as a light color and wear with another light color for an almost monochrome effect.

#8 Sporty Layers - as seen in Canada

Dva from Toronto is sporting one of the coolest all white looks we've seen in a while. We love the drapey tank she's paired with a sporty yet pleated pant with some lug soles and newsboy cap. The look should be layered and relaxed. The silhouette is modern and you can tell her pants fit her perfectly.

4 Cool Summer Prints That Aren't Floral

When you think of summer prints you can’t help but see the flood of floral prints that stores are often bombarded with.

Even if you’re the girliest of girls, you can often get sick of the same old florals that are often seen come spring/summer season every single year for oh, I don’t know the past ten years?

We’ve come up with a roundup of the best prints we’ve seen on the street from style bloggers around the world.

Even if you’re the girl that wears head to toe black, there’s something for everyone in this huge round up, so scroll down to see the top summer prints.

The Top Shoe Trend EVERYONE Can Wear

When it comes to shoe trends, we hate when there seems to be some crazy trend such as 4" stilettos, that obviously only 5% of the human population can wear. Which is why we're quite ecstatic to reveal the top shoe trend that has been seen all over the WORLD lately.

No matter where you globe trotters are off to next, you can be sure to be right on trend with the top shoe trend of the season.

With that said, can we have a drumroll, please...

The top shoe trend seen (literally) around the world is what we're calling the CHUNKY.

Now, many of you may be saying, yeah yeah, we already know this. But, it's not just chunky sandals that are trending, it's chunky everything. Chunky sneakers, chunky platforms, chunky wedges, and chunky heels. If the shoe is chunky, it's trending.

And we like the word Chunky. It's kind of funny don't you think?
Makes us want some peanut butter. ;)

So scroll down to check out how bloggers around the world are styling this cool and comfy trend.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA/ USA
Zia from The Hunter Collector shows off the perfect outfit for spring/summer. An off-the-shoulder dress paired with some chunky platform sandals. These sandals are great for walking and probably cannot get any easier to stand in if you're looking for some extra height. We love that her look is super stylish yet casual.  The vest adds just the perfect light-weight layer for some extra outfit interest. (That should be a hashtag right?) #extraoutfitinterest ;)

THE NETHERLANDS
May from Oh May God (don't you just love her blog's name?) shows us a more sporty look. May's take on the chunky trend is one of the latest fashion blogging trends which are these platform/chunky/thick sole (whatever you wanna call) sneakers.  Obviously May knows her sneakers as she's wearing the latest Rihanna + Puma collabs.

SPAIN
Andrea shows off her lovely Obistudio espadrille platforms. We are in love with these sandals. These are hand-crafted made in Spain and they are to die for! Super cute and comfy yet super stylish are two factors we always look for. You cannot go wrong with these for the summer! Andrea has paired with some short shorts and midriff top, and you're all set for a day at the docks.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA/USA
Amy Roiland from A Fashion Nerd and also the founder/CEO of the amazingly awesome Fashion Tap App shows off her gold chunky slingback sandals. We love the idea of a high-heel chunky sandal that instantly spices up any outfit yet looks extremely cool rather than skanky. If these sandals had been stiletto heels, the outfit would take on a whole other direction. In this case, the shoes really make the outfit.

MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA, ORIGINALLY FROM KAZAKHSTAN
One of our favorite bloggers, Diana from Queenhorsfall is wearing one of our favorite looks in this whole roundup. These chunky lace up sandals are perfectly paired with a casual distressed jean and sweater for a balance of sexy, casual, cool.  The sandals are made from denim by the way! Amazing, right?

AUSTRIA
Hristina from Fleurdemode based in Vienna, shows off another favorite option for wearing chunky heels. This pump is the perfect lady-like way to wear a comfortable heel while also staying on trend. Gone are the 'old lady' ways of wearing a chunky heel. With the resurgence of mules alike, these pumps are the go-to chunky heel for fashion girls.

JAPAN
Mihora from instagram.com/mihori_yjp  a model and student from Japan is wearing the tallest and chunkiest shoe of them all. Her almost "sporty-gothic" look in black on black on black definitely stands out. In fact not may people could probably pull off the look that Mihora is sporting. See all of her amazing looks on lookbook.nu/user/5724891-MIHORI

BRAZIL
And finally, we have Alana Ruas from Alanaruas.com based in Brazil. Alana is also sporting some platform sneakers for extra height and comfort which we love. #neednow
Alana has an online store that features some amazing swimsuits, sports-wear and accessories.

10 Ways to Wear a Crop Top

The crop top trend does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.  It's funny how just a few years ago it was a bit odd if girls were to show their midriff. The erogenous zones continually shift towards either the shoulder, midriff, back, chest, butt, etc, but the midriff definitely was "out" for a while and seemed a bit too "sexy" to be seen on pretty much anyone that was into fashion.

The way in which to wear a crop top these days has greatly changed since the earlier days of skin tight halters and tank tops worn underneath flannels and baggy overalls. It has even greatly changed since the early 2000's when everyone was sporting those handkerchief tied tops or slinky "going-out" tops. You know what I'm talking about, right?

Anyway, if we were to predict trends, we would say that the crop top is back at least until next season mainly because bloggers around the world are still sporting this trend like it's brand new. The various ways of wearing this trend is what make this piece ultra versatile and just doesn't seem to quit.

Keep on scrolling to see the top ten ways we've discovered from ten different bloggers and influencers around the globe.

#1 THE BOHO-CHIC LOOK - SEEN IN ITALY
Worn by one of the duo behind Italian DIY bloggers Chiara and Irene of One-o, we love the feminine look of this crop top paired with a maxi side slit skirt. As you can see the skirt sits higher than usual which creates less skin space and creates a softer feminine look as opposed to a lower rise skirt that sat on the hips.

#2 THE MAXI TWO-PIECE - SEEN IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Shemmai, an LA based model and blogger from Careless Curls shows off a sophisticated and sexy take on wearing a crop top. The design of the back of both the top and bottom add an extra little detail and the perfect amount of skin in an expected way.  It almost appears as thoough the pieces are connected in the back.

#3 THE SPORTY CHIC LOOK - SEEN IN LONDON, ENGLAND
Another great way to show off your midriff is by pairing with a great pair of jogger pants or a sportier type of pant with a drawstring and tapered ankles. Had Hollie paired with some tight skinny jeans for example, the look might appear to be a bit too "sexy" for everyday wear.  But the relaxed look of this jogger combo makes this outfit look effortlessly cool.

#4 THE MATCHY-MATCHY LOOK - SEEN IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Wearing items that are matchy-matchy seem to be a huge trend right now. Remember when it was "un-cool" to wear a matching top and bottom? Well we've definitely seen a surge of both print on print top and bottom as well as monochrome from head to toe going on.  Elizabeth Keene from A Keene Sense of Style shows off one of her signature looks with an adorable print and matching top and short set. Notice that her barely there crop top is the perfect fit with just a peek of skin.

#5 THE TIE UP YOUR T-SHIRT LOOK - SEEN IN CALGARY, CANADA
Jocelyn from the Fox and Fern blog based in Calgary, Canada knows how to pull off the t-shirt DIY crop. Paired with her high waisted flares and floppy and she's the perfect combo of boho-rocker chic. Tying up your shirt is the best way to take an otherwise simple outfit up a notch on the styling side.

#6 THE TIE UP YOUR BLOUSE LOOK- SEEN IN GERMANY
Another take on the DIY crop top and tying up your t-shirt, Minamia.de shows off her tied up blouse paired with some white denim hip huggers. If the top she was wearing was not a blouse, one might argue that the outfit is a bit risque, but because she's chosen a classic button down blouse with her hip huggers, the contrasting styles balance each other perfectly.

#7 THE SIMPLE & SEXY LOOK- SEEN IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Lisa Linh from Los Angeles shows off a basic way of wearing a crop top.- with denim shorts of course! Sometimes we tend to overthink styling and forget that you can always just keep it simple.  The way she's styled her ensemble with a chunky heel is the key to not looking too simple.

#8 THE COOL SPORTY LOOK - SEEN IN MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA
Ellie from illicitempress definitely knows how to pull off this look in an effortless way.  It takes just the right attitude to be able to pull this look, and Ellie has the look down to a T. The key takeaway here is to pair with sportier pants and always consider a long-sleeve crop, you can't go wrong.

#9 THE MONOCHROME TWO-PIECE - SEEN IN ALBANIA
One of our favorite picks, this look is super sexy yet is styled to perfection. Angelina, who is based in Albania pairs her high-low skirt and camisole top with an oversized denim jacket and furry loafers which make this look an every-day type of look rather than being evening specific. We love a blogger that thinks outside of the box.

#10 THE TRY-IT-OUT CROP TOP - SEEN IN NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
If you aren't quite ready to embrace a full out crop top, how about going with the peek-a-boo look? Mary Ellen Skye from Nashville shows off the perfect outfit for those of you that may be a tad bit shy about showing off your mid-section. We absolutely love this look because it's the perfect amount of sweet, stylish and sexy.

Minimalistic Style Inspiration: 4 Bloggers you Must Follow Now

Minimalism fashion has been one of the most blogged about ways of dressing since pretty much the  beginning of fashion blogging.

But in an abundance of bloggers these days, it's hard to stand out in a crowd of overly adorned and accessorized fashionistas.

But minimalistic fashion has become not only a trend but a way of life for many style bloggers.

These five ladies managed to stand out in the world of blogging by simply showing off effortless yet sophisticated style.

As you know, Global Garbs aims to highlight trends from around the globe, and we're always on the hunt for the next style star.

We don't know about you, but we just can't seem to grasp how one can look so perfectly chic wearing just a plain white tee, black pants, and possibly sandals.

It's not just that the majority of these bloggers are gorgeous, we think it's the quality of clothing they are wearing and also just a certain je ne sais quoi  about them.

As always, we're on the hunt to feature the best of the best, and also some up-and-coming style stars that catch our eye.

From Spain to China, one thing these ladies all have in common is their ability to rock pretty much anything and look super chic.

USA - BROOKLYN, NY

Michaela from FIGTNY.COM shows us that you can wear only black, white, grey or beige from head to toe and look absolutely amazing.  We love Michaela's ability to put the most simple outfits together while looking extremely sophisticated and styled to perfection.

MADRID, SPAIN

Trini G shows us that minimalism can be super chic and cool at the same time.  We love Trini's ability to wear both feminine and androgynous looks that never look like she's trying too hard. Her accessory selections are pure perfection when it comes to styling. No wonder she's a fashion stylist/blogger as her full time gig.

USA - TEXAS

We discovered Caroline from Un-fancy a few years ago when she set the intention of creating a 37-piece capsule collection for her entire wardrobe. We were instantly smitten with Caroline's down to earth vibe and carefully selected choices.  She is a true minimalist and lives it every day on her blog.

NETHERLANDS - AMSTERDAM

Levi Nguyen from Tlnique obviously has an amazing sense of style.  When it comes to being a minimalist style blogger, we actually aren't quite sure she fits the bill entirely, nor does she classify herself as one.  However, we do know that Levi has a distinctive style that is classy and metropolitan.  We want every one of her outfits!

For more style advice check out our Style Guide on how to create your most wearable wardrobe in six simple steps. It's sort of like the blueprint toward creating your ultimate closet.

6 Spring Trends Seen Around the World

When it comes to putting together a list of recent spring trends seen around the world, you should know that Global Garbs aims to highlight the most current trends that we are seeing in the moment from style bloggers from all over the globe.

So yes, some of these trends you may or may not have seen before, but we will never lead you in the wrong direction.

Some blogs may focus on some outlandish runway trend, but Global Garbs wants to appeal to the most stylish girl in the room, and also the girl who looks to us as a fashion guide for what's currently going in this crazy world of fashion.

We will never say it's "in" for example, if some A-list (or any letter list for that matter) celebrity has been seen wearing a bright yellow feather jacket. Nor will we lead you to believe that just because an eccentric fashion editor wore a pink tutu, that these are all the rage.

Does that make sense?

With that said...

Here are six spring trend picks for the week that you can safely stock up on for the spring season.  We predict that these six are going nowhere anytime soon, and ANYONE can pull them off no matter your location. Happy browsing!

MONOCHROME COLOR OUTFIT - AS SEEN IN-POLAND & TAIWAN

We've definitely seen the all black, or even all white look, but lately there's been a color surge of monochrome outfits whether they are a more neutral monochrome color look from Pivonia Ivona, or a bright and vibrant look from Tif Lu in Taiwan.

THE SIDE SLIT - AS SEEN IN -

CZECH REPUBLIC & THE NETHERLANDS

SIDE SLIT SWEATER

CZECH REPUBLIC

Eliska H. of timetofit.com from the Czech Republic shows off a completely cool and effortless ensemble featuring a trend we've seen a lot lately, which most likely developed from the tunic. It also was pretty big in the nineties which could be another reason for it's comeback.

SIDE SLIT

THE NETHERLANDS

We also have Lian from fashionhoax.com in the Netherlands showing off a side slit.  While, Eliska's slit was incorporated into a sleeveless turtleneck tunic, Lian shows off her slit skirt or possibly even dress (we can't quite tell from this photo). Either way, the slit adds that extra design element that makes this look completely wearable, yet somewhat sexy, and of course ultra cool.

THE LACE UP - AS SEEN IN -

MOLDOVA AND POLAND

LACE UP SWEATER

MOLDOVA

The lace up top trend has been seen a lot lately, and Vlada from Moldova knows exactly how to make this simple trend work...by wearing all black of course. The look is complete with leather jacket, distressed denim and black sneakers.

LACE UP SWEATER

POLAND

While, Vlada from Moldova showed off a more edgy ensemble, Mone from Poland shows us a more boho-chic and feminine style with her lace up dress and pumps. All black definitely seems to be the way to go with this trend.

FELTS FEDORAS - AS SEEN IN -

FRANCE & TAIWAN

FELT HATS

FRANCE

Felt fedoras are not only for the Fall season anymore. Manon B from justanobsession.com, shows off that some casual and simple style accessorized with a more dressy felt fedora actually works and looks incredibly put together and chic.

FELT HAT

TAIWAN

Vita Chen in Taiwan  wears her fedora with a bit more sass and style. We love her unique hairstyle paired with some Chanel loafers and white school girl socks. While her look is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum than Manon from France, these two have both embraced the felt fedoras even in warmer temperatures.

OFF THE SHOULDER - AS SEEN IN -

GERMANY & AUSTRALIA

OFF THE SHOULDER TREND

GERMANY

The famous Leonie from Ohh Couture recently featured her trip to Tulum, Mexico on her blog in which she wore an airy and perfectly feminine off the shoulder boho style white top.  We love how super stylish yet extremely relaxed and comfortable this style looks.

We need this for vacation STAT.

OFF THE SHOULDER AND FELT HAT TREND

AUSTRALIA

Meanwhile, another famous blogger Dasha Gold from www.thetrendspotter.net in Australia shows off a completely different way of pulling off the off-the-shoulder trend.  Her all black ensemble with exaggerated sleeves is what we want to call gothic chic. Complete with another on trend item for spring - the felt hat - this look is the perfect Fall outfit (remember, Australia has opposite seasons than the US).

BOLD FLORAL PRINTS - AS SEEN IN - PANAMA & TEXAS, USA

OFF THE SHOULDER AND BOLD FLORAL PRINT TREND

USA

Payton from Texas in the USA, pulls off not one but two of our top spring picks. She's combined a bold floral print with the off-the-shoulder trend! We have to unbiasedly say that this is our favorite outfit selection.  We not only love the print of this dress,  but we absolutely love the way she's styled the complete look with stacked wooden platforms and choker necklace. It's a completely modern yet nineties inspired ensemble. Bravo Payton!

BOLD FLORAL PRINT DRESS

PANAMA

And finally we have the fabulous Maristella from www.aconstellationjournal.com in Panama City.  We absolutely love her choice of this bold floral print and we love even more that the mini dress has long sleeves.  This is  yet another sub trend we've seen lately in which more spring type dresses actually have long sleeves. It's quite possibly the chicest way of wearing a transitional season floral.  We also want to give Maristella extra credit for her bold selection of accessories. Check out those platforms and amazing tassel bag!

9 Ways to Wear a Midi Skirt

The midi skirt trend has been seen a ton recently whether it's the latest featured trend on a big glossy or the an "it girl" blogger.

And although this trend has been around for a while, many haven't chosen to embrace it as much as it should be because they can't exactly figure out how to wear.

Whether you are more of the casual or sporty girl, or looking for a different type of "going out" look, here are our top 10 ways we've spotted around the globe on how to pull of this trending item.

CONTRAST YOUR PIECES
Here's a perfect way of balancing an otherwise somewhat preppy pleated midi skirt with some toughness. We love the balanced outfit German blogger Esra has put together with the contrast of the striped sweater and bomber jacket paired with ankle boots and army cap.

POP OF COLOR
This outfit is the perfect day to night look. Whether you wear to the office and then drinks afterward, or on a special occasion, we love the pop of color paired with pumps and a sweater. Stylish, elegant and classy are the words that come to mind when describing this look.

HONG KONG - www.mellowmayo.com

SPORTY MEETS FEMININE
In Hong Kong, the midi skirt worn here by blogger Mayo shows off a feminine yet sporty way of styling the midi. We especially love that she added a bowler hat to the ensemble and kept her accessories muted and pastel to match her skirt.

SIMPLE COOL
Jessica is wearing the epitome of a cool girl outfit.  Her midi paired with opaque tights, ankle boots and motorcycle jacket are just the right amount of simple yet incredibly cool.

BASIC CHIC
Rebeca from Valencia, Spain shows off a super chic outfit in basic colors. Although each piece is extremely simple and easy to wear, Rebecca pulls off this look with such ease and chicness we definitely need to copy asap.

PERFECT PRINT
One of our favorite bloggers, Viktoriya from Istanbul, always wears the best prints. And this abstract midi skirt does not disappoint.  She's perfectly styled with her nude heels, handbag and denim blouse.

UNITED STATES - LOS ANGELES - www.tourdestfu.com

UNITED STATES - LOS ANGELES - www.tourdestfu.com

NEXT LEVEL ACCESSORY
Not only do we love the skirt and classic white shirt combo, but Ash a designer and stylist from Los Angeles, CA can definitely rock a heel. Check out the peep toe lace ups she's sporting with her semi pleated midi.

ALL BLACK SEXY
Here's a great way of dressing up your midi, worn by student and blogger Holynights from Portugal. By wearing all black, it almost gives the impression that she's wearing a one piece dress. Two outfits in one!

BASIC CHIC 2
We probably seen this trend worn the most in most simple and stylish way, just like Emily from New York, NY shows us.  Her simple ribbed knit, straight midi and cute booties accompanied with floppy brim hat is just the easiest and coolest look.

Here are some of our favorites from every price point imaginable. Happy Shopping!

7 Winter Essentials EVERYONE needs

#1  The Puffy Coat

This is an obvious essential item, but some people think that just because you wear  a puffy coat means you have to look like a marshmallow.

Kristina, in the Ukraine shows us that by wearing all black and just that little pop of color from the lining, gives just the right amount of detail for an otherwise basic coat.

Also, be sure to look for a cinched waist, just like Sarah Kate did from the US. Regardless of whether this particular puffy came with the belt or not, a puffer with a self belt, or if you add your own does wonders for the figure.

Below we've recommended a diverse selection of puffers that will cinch your waist with just the right amount of design elements to stay warm and chic on the most blustery of days.

# 2 The WOOL Coat

Not to be confused with having a puffy coat, a wool coat is for the days that aren't as extremely cold as the puffy coat days.

Natalia from Spain at www.pasoapasoblog.com, shows off some chic style with an army green wool coat. With clean and simple lines, the coat hits below the knee for extra warmth and sophistication.

Alex from Alex's Closet France keeps it more classic with a camel colored coat. Her styling is perfectly balanced for a sportier and modern look.

#3 The Over the Knee OR Thigh High Boots

Over the knee boots or even thigh high boots have been all the rage for the past couple of winter seasons. These items should be considered staple for two specific reasons.

A) They are super warm and chic

B) Comfortable and definitely one ups your style game when the temperature is freezing.

We absolutely love how Virgit (originally from Ecador) and now blogs at the Preppyfashionist, shows off some major style with her cobalt blue thigh highs.

Many bloggers have been seeing embracing this trend and taking it to the next level with a pop of color.

Kristina from the Ukraine pairs her over the knee boots with a sweater dress that looks both sexy, warm, and sophisticated due to the neutral monochromatic look.

Here are a few of our faves..

#4 The Chunky Sweater

The chunky sweater is just such an awesome winter staple because it's not only super warm but it's comfortable, and super stylish without trying too hard.

We love how Nina from Berlin at Helloshoppping blog has styled this simple cable knit sweater with high waist denim and belt. Her slouchy look is right on trend and perfectly cozy yet chic.

Meanwhile Carissa from Classicallycarissa in the USA shows off a completely different look by pairing her chunky sweater with some leather leggings and skirt. Her look is absolutely perfect for work or play.

#5 A Fedora Hat

Some people think they just aren't "hat people" so they resign themselves to just never trying to accessorize with headwear. This is just a ridiculous statement, because that's like saying I'm not a "sunglass" person.

In order to become a "hat person", you just need to find the right hat for your face (duh!)

And just because this essential item is a fedora hat, doesn't meant there is only one type of fedora. Fedoras or trilby crowns come in all type of shapes, colors and sizes.

Brims can be stiff or floppy, long or short. No matter the style, there is a perfect fit for everyone, you just need to give it a chance.

#6 A Turtleneck

Some of you may be thinking, a turtleneck? Really? C'mon.. aren't those for librarians or old ladies? No, we would like you to re-think the turtleneck. Yes they are a bit conservative, but turtlenecks have been seen all over the place lately from the runway, to top influencers and bloggers.

And believe it or not, a turtleneck is actually one of those pieces that will probably never go out of style! Think of it as the classic white shirt, but warmer. A turtleneck is the perfect piece for layering and especially when worn from head to toe color, can create such a simple yet chic look.

Here's a few of our favorite looks seen recently on Lookbook.

# 7 The Leather Legging or Tights

Last but not least is the legging. Do we even remember a time that leggings were not in style? We hope that for our warmth and comfort sake this piece never goes out of style.

These four ladies from Taiwan to the Czech Republic are all rockin' the leather legging or the legging in their own way.

How to Wear the Lace-up Sweater Trend

Subtle yet sexy, lace up detailing is a trend that’s definitely here to stay. Leading designers, like Isabel Marant, took note of the trend, adding the flirty accent to warm and cozy knits. Rising models and seasoned vets, like Bella Hadid and Candice Swanepoel have both sported this wardrobe must-have.

lace Up Sweater trend

For an easy warmer weather look, team a lightweight knit version with high waist denim cutoffs. Meanwhile, in colder temps, a lace up sweater is the perfect way to stay cozy and chic. Wear your own for an instant sense of off-duty model vibes. Bonus points if you style with high waist jeans, or pair with a skinny belt and printed trousers.

Sasa, a FIT student and head of fashion blog Shall We Sasa, looks elegant and ladylike with a beige lace up sweater. This season is all about unexpected extras, and Sasa went for a sophisticated approach by teaming with a fringed skirt. Sometimes, the key to a stand out look is found in all of the little details. Sasa styled her sweater with an iconic Chanel brooch, coordinating with her classic handbag and bringing this whole look together.

Lace up Sweater Trend

Katarina Vidic, fashion blogger at Katiquette Style and hailing from Slovenia, wears the lace up trend well. This style setter opted for a gray lace up sweater and paired with matching denim skinnies. Keep the strings unlaced to create a cool, boho-chic feel and show off a sexy hint of décolletage. Invest in neutral colors, like cream or gray, which are perfect for season after season wear. Lightly draping an edgy motorcycle jacket over her shoulders, Vidic looks chic and comfy in a pair of simple slip on sneakers. Try out her timeless look for yourself for that cool-without-trying type of vibe.

Lace up sweater from behind

Totally OMG-worthy—bring sexy back with corset style detailing - but from the behind.  Look back over your shoulder for a more subtle way of wearing this trend.  For an effortless look, wear a lace up sweater that looks just as cute when viewed from the back just like Chloe from Chloe From the Woods does. Pair with leggings and ankle booties for an easy go-to look. You’ll turn heads in this notice-me wardrobe staple. Switch up a low-key outfit with slightly dressy, yet altogether unexpected pieces. Oh, what fun! Toast the season in the best way possible, wearing an eye-catching lace up sweater.

How to Layer and Not Look Ridiculous

Layering can be a tricky art, but if you do it correctly, you can be sure to keep warm while looking ultra chic.

The key to not looking ridiculous when layering boils down to 3 main rules.  Below we found what we consider the best round up of fashion bloggers from around the world, wearing layers in the chicest way possible.

How to Layer - Spain

Rule #1 - Keep it simple.

When it comes to layering especially for winter, your first priority is obviously for warmth, but you can definitely step up your style game by layering with a thin blouse underneath a cable knit sweater and then layered again with a warm wool coat.

Rule #2 Think outside of the box.

How to Layer - Ukraine

We love how this blogger paired a leather jacket underneath what appears to be a blanket scarf/poncho.  Her slouchy shorts and knee high boots are the perfect mix of an ultra cool look yet warm enough for the colder months.

Another blogger from the Ukraine,Valeriya from  www.allaboutaccent.com, shows off a great way to wear your wool sleeveless dresses into the winter.  By pairing a thin turtleneck underneath her dress she not only gives her outfit a major boost in style, but she's adding an extra layer to her otherwise chilly outfit.

Rule #3 Wear a jacket and a coat!

Yes this "rule" sounds a bit strange, but it's more of a suggestion actually than a rule. If you can't tell these two women are extremely chic and sneaky.  If you look closely the Julie K from madamejulietta.blogspot.com, is actually wearing a windbreaker underneath her wool coat as an extra layer of warmth.

Ana, from www.mapetitebyana.com in Spain proves that you can dress warm yet professional in her tied blouse, wool blazer topped off with a thicker wool overcoat. No excuses for cold weather and looking your best.

3 Tips for Mixing Prints Properly

Over the years I have learned one thing about fashion, and it’s that mixing patterns is okay! Mixing patterns and textures for fashion’s sake is a lot of fun but it can be risky business if you’re not sure of what you’re doing. But the one tip to success is to have courage. Here are my ultimate tips for ways to mix patterns in fashion in case you’re ready to take the plunge and give it a try!

www.harpersbazaar.com

www.keikolynn.com

www.keikolynn.com

1. Match colors, not prints.

This is the most important rule to remember when mixing patterns. If the colors look good together, more often than not the prints will look good together too. If you're not sure which colors go best together, it's pretty straightforward: pastels with pastels, earth tones with earth tones, jewel tones with jewel tones, etc. That being said, you'll never go wrong with black and white. They go with everything.

2. The simpler the prints, the easier they are to mix.

www.songofstyle.com

www.songofstyle.com

Here’s the main reason black and white stripes go with everything; they're simple! They're pretty much the neutral of the prints family. They mix well with complex or organic prints like florals and animal prints.

If you want to get really experimental, throw in some graphic patterns. These more complicated prints can look great together, but it's not easy to pull off — this is when playing with color and scale becomes more important, so it can get start off as a struggle if you're not totally comfortable with the idea of print-mixing to begin with.

3. Spread your prints out across your outfit.

I’m not telling you that you can’t wear a printed jacket over a printed top. You absolutely can. But there’s a great possibility that you will feel like your outfit is getting a little too busy, so try distributing your prints more evenly by doing one on the top and one on the bottom.

The ONE Accessory You Need to Stay Warm All Winter

With winter nearly upon us, now is the best time to upgrade your wardrobe with a warm blanket scarf. Comfy and undeniably chic, we're smitten with blanket scarves of all shapes and sizes.

blanket scarf trend

Courtney Quinn, NY-based blogger of Color me Courtney, simply knows how to stay chic in the cold winter temps. Layer an oversized plaid blanket scarf over a marled sweater to keep wintry temps at bay.

For extra style points, coordinate rich color tones like oxblood with a matching hat or flirty skater skirt. Complete this oh-so-chic look with thigh high socks tucked neatly into knee high boots.

Or, amp up the volume on your look like Joelle from Lapetitenoob in Canada, who donned her blanket scarf like a gorgeous capelet. Get snuggly with an oversized tartan blanket scarf and pair with a floppy fedora for a look that's totally in-the-now. Play with proportion by pairing a micro mini skirt with over the knee wedge boots. Add oversized sunglasses and a zippered handbag to complete this glamorous ensemble.

Get a quick lesson in blanket scarf layering from Patricia, who runs her own style blog called Peexo from the UK. Looking both elegant and classy, Patricia started off her look by layering a beige blanket scarf over a sheer blouse.

Use a thin belt with a gold buckle to cinch things together at the waist, creating a beautiful hourglass silhouette. Team with ankle booties and a oversized handbag to complete your look. We love Patricia's feminine details, like the loose princess sleeves from her blouse and delicate hoop earrings for an extra special touch.

For a fall-to-winter look, take a cue from Emily Gemma, also known for her fashion blog called The Sweetest Thing.  Combining some of the most of-the-moment trends, Emma rocked her multicolored blanket scarf over a brown suede jacket and distressed denim.

Edgy yet effortless, Gemma cuffed the ankles of her jeans and paired them with a pair of rocker-chic pumps. The studded details on her pointed heels keep this look cool and fresh, while her carry-all satchel gives this outfit a classic feel. Perfect as a transitional outfit, this is one romantic look to try for yourself.

Look charming and opt for mixing textures just like San Francisco-based blogger, Connnie Tang. For a unexpected twist, pair a plaid blanket scarf with a classic striped raglan tee layered under a furry vest. Pucker up with a swipe of red lip and match with a cute crossbody bag in the same bold red hue. Keep things casual with a pair of indigo denim and chunky booties.

To create the perfect cozy yet chic outfit, layer on one of this season’s most coveted items— a blanket scarf.
