A Day in the Life of Stylist and Blogger Evelina from London, England

If you've been following Global Garbs, you know that we LOVE meeting new bloggers around the world. There's something so interesting about learning more about a person in a different country with different culture, and a different sense of style.

We are all connected in the world of fashion and now especially due to the internet we are influenced by others around the world at the comfort of our own home.

Does anyone recall the days of purchasing UK Vogue, or Vogue Italia to get new inspiration from across the world? Or was that just us...

Either way, it's amazing to connect with like-minded individuals on a more personal level with the rise of blogging on a world-wide level.

What is the focus of your blog:
Fashion and personal style. I show outfits I wear, share style tips and talk about places I visit and love.

Years blogging:
almost 2 years

Is this your full-time job? If not, how do you pay the bills?
Blogging is not the only thing I do. I am also a fashion stylist. I style photo shoots for fashion magazines, work with fashion start-ups as a style expert, write styling tips articles for online magazines, deliver corporate image training and give personal style consultations to individual clients.

How long did it take you to build your following or until you could start blogging full-time?
It took me around a year to start getting any income from my blog.

The best thing about blogging?
An opportunity to share my passion for fashion with people all over the world who have the same interests and build a community. It also serves as my diary where I keep a record of all my outfits and exciting trips. I love time from time to look back to relive amazing moments once again.

The worst thing about blogging?
Sometimes it can feel a bit lonely. Also, there is too much focus on numbers.

What piece of advice would you give to new bloggers?
It takes time to make it, so make sure you don’t give up. Also, you need to believe in yourself

Dream brand to work with?
I always dream bigEmilio Pucci, Fendi and Burberry

Biggest Accomplishment as a blogger?
First of all, starting getting paid for my blog posts. But the biggest achievement for me is that a few of my personal clients started working with me just because they liked my fashion tips and my style they saw on my blog.

fashion blogging lifestyle a day in the life of stylist evelina from the UK

What are you working on next, or excited for?
I just launched my personal e-styling platform which enables women from all over the world to get instant fashion advice from the comfort of their home (www.stylistevelina.com) and at the moment I am working on adding a new service – holiday capsule wardrobe which will ensure you always travel in style. I am also very excited to start working with haute-couture evening wear brand so expect very glamorous photo-shoots coming on my blog very soon.

How would you describe the fashion and style in the UK? What do people think about fashion and fashion blogging in your opinion?
Archetypal British style is eccentric, fun and edgy and Brits are famed for their individual sense of style. But the UK and especially London is very international so you can expect a mix of many different styles. Fashion definitely plays an important role in the UK.

A lot of people are fascinated to hear that I work in a fashion industry but they don’t really understand how hard it is. People still don’t look at blogging as a proper business, they can’t imagine that it’s exactly the same as running a company.

EVELINA'S DAY

7.30 am – wake up and start my day

8.30 am – my each day starts with a to-do list. Then I start dealing with my emails, scheduling social media posts and have my breakfast (typically chia seeds pudding with berries).

10 am – depending on a day I might work with clients, get ready for meetings or write my blog posts.

1 pm – I always try to exercise around lunch time. I usually work out at home – there are so many excellent workouts on youtube that I don’t feel I need to go to the gym which saves me a lot of time. I love pilates and never work out longer than 30 min just to make sure I can fit it into my schedule.

2 pm – quick lunch (I usually have salad) followed by meetings/emails/working with clients or writing blog posts

5 pm – I love taking photos for my blog posts in the evening to have the perfect light.

fashion blogging a day in the life of evelina from the UK

8 pm – dinner with my boyfriend. I usually cook and we talk about each other’s day.

9 pm – finishing the tasks I haven’t managed to complete during the day, planning blog posts and interacting on Instagram

11 pm – time to relax and start getting ready for bed. I usually watch one episode of my favourite TV show or read a book just before I go to sleep around 12am.

The Top Shoe Trend EVERYONE Can Wear

When it comes to shoe trends, we hate when there seems to be some crazy trend such as 4" stilettos, that obviously only 5% of the human population can wear. Which is why we're quite ecstatic to reveal the top shoe trend that has been seen all over the WORLD lately.

No matter where you globe trotters are off to next, you can be sure to be right on trend with the top shoe trend of the season.

With that said, can we have a drumroll, please...

The top shoe trend seen (literally) around the world is what we're calling the CHUNKY.

Now, many of you may be saying, yeah yeah, we already know this. But, it's not just chunky sandals that are trending, it's chunky everything. Chunky sneakers, chunky platforms, chunky wedges, and chunky heels. If the shoe is chunky, it's trending.

And we like the word Chunky. It's kind of funny don't you think?
Makes us want some peanut butter. ;)

So scroll down to check out how bloggers around the world are styling this cool and comfy trend.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA/ USA
Zia from The Hunter Collector shows off the perfect outfit for spring/summer. An off-the-shoulder dress paired with some chunky platform sandals. These sandals are great for walking and probably cannot get any easier to stand in if you're looking for some extra height. We love that her look is super stylish yet casual.  The vest adds just the perfect light-weight layer for some extra outfit interest. (That should be a hashtag right?) #extraoutfitinterest ;)

THE NETHERLANDS
May from Oh May God (don't you just love her blog's name?) shows us a more sporty look. May's take on the chunky trend is one of the latest fashion blogging trends which are these platform/chunky/thick sole (whatever you wanna call) sneakers.  Obviously May knows her sneakers as she's wearing the latest Rihanna + Puma collabs.

SPAIN
Andrea shows off her lovely Obistudio espadrille platforms. We are in love with these sandals. These are hand-crafted made in Spain and they are to die for! Super cute and comfy yet super stylish are two factors we always look for. You cannot go wrong with these for the summer! Andrea has paired with some short shorts and midriff top, and you're all set for a day at the docks.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA/USA
Amy Roiland from A Fashion Nerd and also the founder/CEO of the amazingly awesome Fashion Tap App shows off her gold chunky slingback sandals. We love the idea of a high-heel chunky sandal that instantly spices up any outfit yet looks extremely cool rather than skanky. If these sandals had been stiletto heels, the outfit would take on a whole other direction. In this case, the shoes really make the outfit.

MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA, ORIGINALLY FROM KAZAKHSTAN
One of our favorite bloggers, Diana from Queenhorsfall is wearing one of our favorite looks in this whole roundup. These chunky lace up sandals are perfectly paired with a casual distressed jean and sweater for a balance of sexy, casual, cool.  The sandals are made from denim by the way! Amazing, right?

AUSTRIA
Hristina from Fleurdemode based in Vienna, shows off another favorite option for wearing chunky heels. This pump is the perfect lady-like way to wear a comfortable heel while also staying on trend. Gone are the 'old lady' ways of wearing a chunky heel. With the resurgence of mules alike, these pumps are the go-to chunky heel for fashion girls.

JAPAN
Mihora from instagram.com/mihori_yjp  a model and student from Japan is wearing the tallest and chunkiest shoe of them all. Her almost "sporty-gothic" look in black on black on black definitely stands out. In fact not may people could probably pull off the look that Mihora is sporting. See all of her amazing looks on lookbook.nu/user/5724891-MIHORI

BRAZIL
And finally, we have Alana Ruas from Alanaruas.com based in Brazil. Alana is also sporting some platform sneakers for extra height and comfort which we love. #neednow
Alana has an online store that features some amazing swimsuits, sports-wear and accessories.

Work it Wednesday!
Suit up this Autumn with a skirt and blazer set from  Topshop (boots from Zara) this blazer set is perfect for work, wear it with a pair of tights and you’ll keep those little legs warm too. I would definitely wear this to an interview or to work to look professional and styling!

Manic Monday.jpg

DAY 1 – Manic Monday:
Light, easy & summery - this is how I would prefer to start the week. Perfect look for Monday routines, where you need to stay active, busy and stylish of course. Here all the items are very simple and combined without any effort, therefore super comfy and fit perfectly well as for an active day.

DAY 2 – Trendy Tuesday:
Hat are on trend every fall season, so I couldn't resist to find a new one for myself this fall. This blue color is so versatile and is different from black, which adds some freshness to your look. This one from Zalando made a perfect fit with my fall wardrobe and fits each and every coat and winter jacket - perfect choice!

DAY 3 –Work It Wednesday:
I try to never compromise style & comfort, therefore I especially like this look. It's formal in one way (mainly thanks to the overall & blazer combo), but super casual & comfy on the other, making it 'on-point' for a business meeting or even an interview. Although, for an interview I'd choose another clutch and perhaps would wear loafers instead of slippons. Otherwise, this look is versatile and could be worn for many ocassions.

DAY 4 - Throwback Thursday:
Here is the look that has been shot very long time ago, so it's a real #TBT. This look is very special to me, since I'm wearing garments from my friend and super talented designer KRASILNIKOVA, and this leather vest is just a mind-blowing piece, since it's done by applying laser techniques and is hand crafted. Every time I wear it, I get many compliments, because it's just impossible not to notice!

DAY 5 – Fancy Friday:
This is one of my favorite looks, since I'm a huge fan of a polka dot & zebra prints. I love it, because with only chanching lace-up sandals up for the stripes hills, this look transforms from casual to the outgoing one. Just put red lipstick on and your restaurant & party look is ready. I also loved how red zebra style clutch made a great accent here.

DAY 6 - Swanky Saturday:
This chic dress I'd definitely choose for a special ocassion, where I'd need to look fancy and festive. Grey glossy fabric provides chic character, combined with massive jewellry and beautiful heels. I like either ways of upstyling this dress - beige hills & orange chandallier earrings, or blue accents. Both look gorgeous :)

DAY 7 - Spontaneous Sunday:
The mustard & blue color combo was chosen super spontaneous, since I was running out of time to come up with my Sunday city-walking look. And I just loooove how it ended up, fresh & vivid :) This H&M cropped pullower  is still one of my favorite things in my wardrobe.

7 Days of Style - Finland

sylviemus1.png
My name is Sylvie Mus and I'm a 24 year old fashion blogger and model living in Helsinki, Finland.  My blog is about fashion and my own style. I would describe my style as minimal and versatile. I only wear things that I like and I don't follow trends too much because I think it's better to stand out and have your own look.

MY 3 TIPS FOR FASHION BLOGGERS

1. Stay true to your own style and dont think about being trendy too much.

2. Keep creating original content and dont copy other people.

3. Be patient. Nobody turns into a "super-blogger" over night.

Manic Monday - Day 1

DAY 1 Manic Monday
On Monday's I like to wear something minimal and practical, but it also has to be stylish. I think Blue jeans and a white shirt is such a classic combination that always works.

Day 2 Trendy Tuesday

Day 2 Trendy Tuesday
I love a good 70's inspired look. Especially for fall, I think a skinny scarf is the number one must have accessory! I think it adds something special to the look.

day 3 work it wednesday

DAY 3 - Work it Wednesday
This is something I would wear to an interview or a PR meeting. I think adding a good blazer can give any outfit a more serious and corporate vibe.

Day 4 Throwback thursday

DAY 4 Throwback Thursday
For throwback Thursday I chose this look because It's one of my favorite outfits that I wore in spring.  I love long trench coats and hats!

Day 5 Fancy Friday

DAY 5 Fancy Friday
I think this is one of those outfits that you can wear in the day time for work and running errands and then in the night time if you're going out.

Swanky Saturday

DAY 6 Swanky Saturday
This is my favorite kind of party look. I love wearing an androgynous look when I wanna look fancy because it's not too predictable like wearing a dress.

Day 7 Spontaneous Sunday

DAY 7 Spontaneous Sunday
This is something I would typically wear on a Sunday for brunch or shopping or if I'm going out for drinks.  It's casual but not too casual so it's good for any occasion.

7 Days of Style - Portugal

MARIA ROGET BIO .jpg

Hey! My name is Maria Marques, I'm a 26yrs Portuguese girl who's a museum curator, freelancer artist and fashion blogger. The main focus of my blog is to show, besides my travels and fashion tips, how someone can be stylish and trendy with basics and simple outfits. But always giving that personal and edgy touch to it. Keeping it casual, chic and simple is the way to go!

3 TIPS FOR NEW BLOGGERS

1. Do no copy! Get inspired, take notes but never copy!
2. Know yourself, know your style and taste, and stick to it.
3. Keep it simple!

MANIC MONDAY

DAY 1 – MANIC MONDAY
One of my go-to outfits are those outfits that I instantly pick without even thinking. It includes jeans, leather jacket, black tops, flats shoes or sneakers. In this case, sneakers. This an outfit I would wear to do my errands or even to travel! Comfy and chic.

TRENDY TUESDAY- MARIA ROGET

DAY 2 – TRENDY TUESDAY
The shearling coat! I've been mad about it since the cold weather came. And for me it is one of the top trends this F/W season. Super warm, an edgy piece that goes perfect with jeans and black knits. I've combined mine with a black man knit, grey jeans and black loafers.

WORK IT WEDNESDAY - MARIE - PORTUGAL

DAY 3 – WORK IT WEDNESDAY
Since I'm obsessed with basics and man wear, if I had to go to the museum or a job interview I would most definitely wear a grey sweater and jeans. But, to jazz it up a bit, I would add a pair of black heels and a furry collar leather jacket. Simple and classic!

throwback thursday

DAY 4 – TBT
I've started blogging in the Summer of 2013. But slowed it along the way and kicked it again in October of 2014. This is an outfit from November of 2014, with one of my favorites back then, the varsity jacket, and my ginger hair!

fancy friday

DAY 5 – FANCY FRIDAY
Another trend of 2015 are the flare jeans. A fancy piece that reborn is style! This outfit could as easily be worn to work (adding the jacquard coat), and to a night out with with just the turtleneck, jeans and adding a small black purse.

swanky saturday

DAY 6 – SWANKY SATURDAY
I rarely go out, but when I do I like to play with my silhouette. And what works perfect with it is the always classic black dress and black heels. And I've been loving the midi dresses this year. So, this would be an outfit I would wear to go out dinner with my man.

spontaneous sundays

DAY 7 – SPONTANEOUS SUNDAY
unday are all about staying comfy! And for me there's nothing more comfortable than man knits. I could live in them! This outfit shows my “weekend look” in the best way possible: big knit, black pants and black flats. Perfect for a stroll in the city.

7 Days of Style - Spain

"My name is Paz Halabi Rodriguez. I was born in Chile but when I was 18 years old I moved to Spain. I spend a lot of years between Barcelona and Madrid, so sometimes I feel more Spanish than Chilean hehehe. I studied Fashion Design and Pattern Making in Barcelona, and I have worked for Inditex but nowadays I live in Helsinki due to my husband business. I started my blog because I love fashion and I wanted to show the collections that I will do in a future. I'm a vintage lover, but I follow trends also.  But I always try to give my own perspective to the outfit that I wear, because I think if you don't make it different we are going to look the same. The idea for me at least is to have fun with fashion, forget to be shy and just be yourself!"

How to Wear a Hat for Fall

how-to-wear-a-hat1.jpg

Wearing a hat can either be incredibly chic and the perfect fall accessory, or you can feel quite ridiculous.  Many girls always say "I'm just not a hat person" , but that is like saying you're not a an earring person, or a belt person.  A hat can be the best way to give your outfit just a little extra style.

Many bloggers around the world have been embracing all shapes and colors of hats for a while now, and the looks below do not disappoint. Your hat should be considered that third layer of style that isn't completely necessary until you put it on, and then it just completes the look.  Fall is the perfect season for a hat because you're not going to need your big puffy coat or beanie just yet.

These 7 fashion bloggers from Canada to Russia know how to wear a hat and do so with such ease and sophistication. Whether you're looking for something a bit more sporty, then try a beanie like Esra.  Or for the more daring fashion girl, opt for an outback shaped brim shape like Salome did.

Whatever shape you choose, a hat is a must have for the fall season. Here are our top picks seen this week from around the globe.
