A Day in the Life of Lisa Linh

a day in the life of lisa linh

Have you ever wanted to become a full-time  blogger? Today we have the pleasure of taking a small peek into the life of fashion and lifestyle blogger Lisa Linh of By Lisa Linh.  Lisa has been blogging for just about two years, and she recently had her first full-time blogger anniversary!

Lisa just wrote an awesome blog post about what it was like to actually quit her full-time job a year ago in order to pursue blogging full-time. She gives some amazing advice to new bloggers and what you can do to stand out in the sea of bloggers. Read more about it here

how lisa linh became a full-time blogger

Lisa talks about working in the corporate world for over ten years and then finally leaving her last position as a men's wear marketer.  She goes into more detail about how making the leap into full-time blogging has been such an amazing experience that she does not regret one bit. If she had not quit her job, she wouldn't have been able to participate in amazing opportunities such as taking a 7-day cruise in the Carribean, working with brands such as Rebecca Minkoff, or attend huge events such as Coachella and New York Fashion Week!

It's always so inspiring to hear these stories of women taking their careers to the next level and becoming an entrepreneur. That's essentially what fashion blogging is, even if you don't realize it from the get go. If you treat it like a business and continue to push the need each and every day you will see results. Cheers to Lisa for accomplishing the great goal of quitting her job and being an inspiration!

Best thing about blogging?
Being able to connect with bloggers alike/influencers who share the same passion, as well as working and meeting with brands on creative projects. However, the best thing about blogging is that I'm allowed the opportunity to encourage, inspire, and motivate someone that's reading/following.

Worst thing about blogging?
It's all about numbers majority of the time; quantity over quality (for brands).

What piece of advice would you give to new bloggers?
Make sure you're doing it because you love it, otherwise you'll burn out quickly. It's not easy, but it's worth it if you truly love it.

Biggest Accomplishment as a blogger?
Being financially stable! Haha, no seriously, when you've reach a point where you're not stressing over when you're getting paid - that's the best feeling.

What are you working on next, or excited for?
I've been in collaboration with Adidas recently, working on some upcoming travel stories with Rebecca Minkoff and a few other selected brands, as well as focusing more on editorial stories that truly represent my brand. Expect videos, fun projects, and more creative direction on our photoshoots!

Lisa's Daily Schedule

8:15AM
Wake up, quickly scan emails on my iPhone and answer most urgent ones before getting up and doing my morning routine (brushing teeth, washing my face, etc)

9AM
Settling down at my computer, sometimes I order Starbucks via Postmates, while I write down my to-do list for the day. After writing out what needs to get done, I go through my emails and clean it up.

11AM
Depending on the tasks for the day, I'll either get ready for events/meetings or start editing photos/writing my blog post or finalize agreements/projects.

12PM-4PM
Typically out at events/meetings/errands and grabbing a snack/lunch.

5PM-7PM
I shoot blog content around Golden Hour, most of the time. During this timeframe, I'm scouting a location and planning how many outfits needs to get done for the day.

8PM-12AM
Dinner, back to answering emails, and working on blog content or photos.

7 Days of Style - Russia

Enn Franco Says blog
I am Anna, the author and creative mind behind the Russian fashion and lifestyle blog Enn Franco Says. The main idea of the blog is to talk with my audience about the things that I see vital for an ordinary person and as for a blogger too: how to promote the blog, work with brands, how to find yourself in this world, as well as showing my tips and tricks about travel destinations and sharing my style with bright and inspiring pictures.

My top 3 blogging tips
1) Cross promote your publications as soon as you posted them on the blog. Don't postpone this activity.
2) The visual content plays a very important part. Forget about the Iphone and smartphone pictures, take them only with a camera. I highly recommend Olympus Pen, they are simple in use and have detachable lenses. Also don't forget about the design. The more minimal, the better.
3) Instagram and Facebook are the most important social media to bring traffic. Don't underestimate them.

DAY 1 Manic Monday:
As Mondays are so lazy and we need to be in a hurry to get through all this madness, the best you can wear is something really cozy but yet stylish. Cozy sweater + stylish camel coat + preppy shoes = fantastic choice!

DAY 2 Trendy Tuesday:
The big cardigans for me were the good trend in the last 2015 year. They are really stylish and together with a minimal outfit and details can make a blast!

DAY 3 Work It Wednesday:
All black everything. I just love black and it suits perfectly every occasion. Except for a wedding of course haha But to make your outfit more rock&roll, put on your favourite leather pants and you'll be on the top!

DAY 4 Throwback Thursday:
Oh, this outfit was posted in May 2014 when I decided to make a pin-up/retro style shoot in a popular diner in Moscow. The result: it is still my the most viewed outfit on the blog, and I think of making something new similar like that. Tsss it's a secret :)

DAY 5 Fancy Friday:
This outfit is absolutely versatile! You can wear it entirely to work or university and then have a meet with friends in a bar or a fancy restaurant. Cause black always rules and is suitable for day and night and with a pair of nice blue jeans can make a great contrast. Pair the outfit with high heel boots and voila, you are ready to rock the dance floor without coming back home after work to change clothes.

DAY 6: Swanky Saturday:
I wore this sequines dress in the end of 2015 at the New Year party of one fashion magazine in Moscow and this is the most dressed up outfit I have ever worn! And you know what, I think that sequines and me are made for each other :)

DAY 7: Spontaneous Sunday:
On weekend I try to relax as much as I can. And this comes also to creating outfit if I ned to meet with friends, go to the cinema or a brunch. And I always, always pay attention to total black looks cause they are the most relaxed ones and effortless, cause on weekends I am the most lazy person in the whole world :)

7 Days of Style - Bulgaria

Hello, I’m Martina, 23 years old (soon to be 24) and I’m half Bulgarian, half Italian, currently living in Bulgaria and spending my vacations in Italy. I love fashion, traveling and I share all my experiences, my personal style and shopping tips on the blog. I’m also very active in social media these days and I love sharing different inspirations there every day!
MARTINA

Tips for new bloggers:

1. Choose the style of your blog and stick to it.

You might have noticed that there are different types of fashion blogs. Before starting your own blog or even if you already have one, ask yourself what exactly do you want to show people. Do you want it to be about your personal style, celebrity style, or do you want to write about designers and fashion shows?

You most probably, want to write in your blog about more than one topic, and you can totally do that, but you should always have one “main topic” that dominates and defines your blog’s type. For example in my blog is for my personal style, life, travels and so on, but I’m also writing about other fashion topics that would be interesting to my readers. And I will share 3 times more articles about my personal life than about anything else, because I know that my blog is about my personal style and my readers enjoy this.

2. Strong social media

Facebook and Instagram are the most important social medias for a fashion blogger. Now it’s also Snapchat. You have to not only create accounts there, but also put a lot of work into social media. Invite your friends to like your page. And there is no shame in writing to other bloggers and sending them over your page or offering them to share each others pages. You would be surprised how many of their readers might actually like your page. To keep the attention of your followers in social medias publish at least 3 or 4 pictures a day of yourself, a celebrity whose style you like, or anything fashion connected.

3. Be yourself.

I know that this sounds very banal, but it’s really important. Don’t try to copy other bloggers- no one likes copycats. And most important, do never copy ready articles from somewhere else, if you find something inspirational and want to share it in your blog, always give credit to the original writer- stealing, copy and paste is not what a successful blogger does.

DAY 1– Manic Monday:

We all know that Mondays are very busy, so when I don’t have much time to combine my outfits, I’d wear an all black outfit- you simply can never go wrong. I adore this suede skirt, it’s very comfortable and also very trendy. Over the knee boots are my favorite I can wear them with everything, they complete the outfit. I prefer suede boots, I feel like leather is more suitable for a night out.

DAY 2 – Trendy Tuesday:

For me this season one of the best trends are the lace up shoes. I adore them and for my big surprise the ones I’m wearing are also very comfortable. I also decided to combine a sequin skirt with my sweater- a fancy combo I love.

DAY 3 –Work It Wednesday:

I’d chose this outfit for work or interview, because it’s very practical, it’s somehow “elegant” but not too much. The vest and the bag are elegant and suitable for an office. The shoes are fashionable- I’d always love to have something trendy on me. And the jeans are casual and comfortable.

DAY 4—Throwback Thursday:

The pictures we took while we were in Paris, two years ago, are one of my favorites. This outfit wasn’t planned. I’ve always dreamed to take photos in front of the Eiffel Tower and once I finally visited Paris, I didn’t have anything interesting and new to wear. But, while I was shopping there I found this fresh, cute dress and it was the perfect match- I love wearing dresses, especially during Summer.

DAY 5 –Fancy Friday:

This outfit is perfect for Friday- you can wear it at work and then go straight to a restaurant or a bar. I actually wore this outfit during a day as well as for a nigh out. The sequin skirt is fancy, but not too fancy and I combined it with a simple black t-shirt and black accessories. Well, some might say that the skirt is quite short for work, but I love wearing minis- I don’t work out with hours at the gym for nothing :D

DAY 6: Swanky Saturday:

I love visiting new clubs and having fun with friends. This bandage dress is super chic and it’s a great choice for a night out. It’s a little bit uncomfortable, like any bandage dress, but you know what they say- if you feel too comfortable in your clothes, you’re not dressed well. Or like Beyonce sang “pretty hurts”, haha. I’d probably not relate to this, if I have to pick an outfit for a walk during the day, but it’s fine to dress up a little on a Saturday night.

DAY 7: Spontaneous Sunday:

I love all white outfits during winter, especially in the snow. Well, probably won’t go out with those shoes in this weather, I wore them only for the pictures obviously, because of the idea with the red roses. Everything else in this outfit is comfortable and minimalistic. On a Sunday, I’d go for a walk, or go the mall, see a movie and stuff like that, so I’d most likely combine it with flat shoes.
